Bakery Contest Results

As many of you may remember, Out Chicago and Around The Town Chicago, as a project to help raise awareness ( and funds)  relative to Special Gifts Theatre, did a bakery contest with the wonderful Misericordia Hearts & Flour Bakery and Cafe, located at 6130 N. Ravenswood in Chicago.

Misericordia provides jobs for adults with intellectual & development Disabilities. It is a neat place to visit, with a wonderful selection, comfortable seating, tasty coffee, and  their baked goods and sandwiches are terrific. The four co-hosts, Scott & Ellen from OUT CHICAGO, and Frank and Al from AROUND THE TOWN CHICAGO met with their General manager Beth Woytek, and after tasting about 9 choices, we each selected the ONE that we favored.

Scott selected the Spinach Croissant, Ellen, the Ham & Cheese Croissant, and the last Croissant, the Chocolate was my election. Frank opted to do a muffin, called the Morning Glory Muffin ( thinking it would be the healthiest, I suppose).

The contest was fun for us and profitable for Special Gifts Theatre, as they are the beneficiary of the prize fund that Misericordia will donate to the scholarship fund. To learn more about this theater company and the brilliant work they do, visit www.specialgiftstheatre.org

The contest ended on Easter Sundays and here are the final results:

1st place- The Ham & Cheese Croissant- ELLEN MILLER     1,378 sold

2nd place- The Chocolate Croissant- Al Bresloff         829 sold

3rd place- The Spinach Croissant-    Scott Duff          794  sold

4th place- Morning Glory Muffin- Frank Meccia        557 sold

A special thanks to Misericordia Hearts & Flour Bakery and Cafe for hosting this contest, and now, as the weather changes, the four of us will turn  to our next venture- “Ice Cream At Windy City Sweets”
