New Year’s Eve at The Old Eagle Room

If you are looking for “something different…something wonderful” for your New Year celebration, why not visit Bridgeport. This is a wonderful little neighborhood where many of our Mayors have spent their lives and on Morgan Street ( just a few blocks west of the ball park) there is a special treat, Polo Cafe, where host/chef Dave Sambor, always makes sure that your are fed well and where you can get an education about this great neighborhood in this great city.

The “Old Eagle Room” is a landmark in the area, but as a movie theater and the Polo Cafe, was the candy store next door. Now the Polo is a special place to dine and The Old Eagle is a banquet room for small parties and cabaret. For New Year’s Eve, Dave is offering a special dining experience, a pre-fixe dinner that includes the following:

To start the meal, Crispy noodle Shrimp or Giant Mushroom Caps. this will be followed by Roasted Pork Chop or Carved Boneless Rib-eye ( carved ( wit a warm Bearnaise sauce)-homemade mashed potatoes and gravy included. or you can feast on a grilled halibut steak with Spanish rice; all entrees will include Chef’s butternut squash-cauliflower-garden green beans-spinach medley and for dessert, Mini Creme Brulee au chocolat or sorbet and chocolate shortbread snowball cookies- the total for this gourmet dining experience is $45 per person ( plus tax and gratuity), There will also be a cash bar with all your favorite premium liquors.

The evening will also have some marvelous entertainment with Jazz pianist Dan Murphy at the 1964 Wurlitzer grand piano and of course dancing thrugh the evening as well. There is complimentary lighted parking just a few doors south of the Polo and for those of you who would like to stay nearby, how about right upstairs at the Bridgeport Bed and Breakfast featuring marvelous suites so you can arrange for your entire party to not only have a great dining experience on the 31st, but a scrumptious breakfast on New Yearl’s day as well.
