“Tap Dogs” reviewed by Frank Meccia

[rating=3]Broadway In Chicago, did it again, they bring in a great show, and it is only here for a week. Dein Perry the creator of this show has been in the forefront of the Australian entertainment industry. And now he brings in 8 men from down under, who perform “TAP”, they do 32 different musical and tap numbers in 75 minutes. The fun part being one of the older men watching the show, I was able to see from the beginning number a little Sammy Davis Jr, to a scene from Singing in the Rain, to Flash-dance. The sets were simple, the main stage that is elevated and is 3 stages in one, and can tilt up to 45’, to a smaller stage in front that can be filled with water for all the wet TAPS that they do.

What keeps this show moving is the two female Musicians Noriko Terada and Caitlin Kalafus, these two keep the show moving at a fast pace, that you have no time to feel bored.

Also, it helps when you have fantastic lighting by Gavin Norris, this man takes 45 digital lights, and produces a fantastic show.

It’s only here for a week, but do try and see this show, I checked their site, they won’t be back here for a while. You want to see Theatre, with Part Rock Concert and part construction, then don’t miss DEIN PERRY’S TAP DOGS at The Nederlander Theatre. located at 24 West Randolph Street
