Flub A Dub Chub’s on Broadway is a hit!

[rating=4]A few weeks ago I got a call from Paul Lisnek from WGN TV about hot dogs.  No I did not call him a “hot dog” but I had been talking about hot dogs on wcpt820. He told me about a little place on Broadway in Chicago that had a great story and a truly tasty menu, Today we visited this place!
The name is unique in itself. flub A Dub Chub’s hot dogs and burgers. This is a tiny shop down about 6 steps from the street level. Yes, it is an intimate space with friendly owners, employees and customers. The name is based on a book and one of it’s characters. Those of you old enough to remember “Howdy Doody” on NBC May recall a puppet with that name. This book is not about that, but I think it may have been the idea that prompted the book, which later prompted the restaurant.
Growing up, I called these places hot dog stands. Back in those days, that is what they were- stands on an empty, paved lot. No dine in- just take it home or sit outside. You may not understand this but at one time there were no drive-thru windows. All the sandwiches have names that represent family members. This is a fun place
Since we were doing a tv show in the area, ( Frank and I do a public service show for Comcast) Frank and I were joined by cameraman Mike and of course Paul who suggested we experience what this hot dog restaurant has done.
One can see it is a family operation and that they treat their customers like family.
Sam always wanted a hot dog restaurant and while it was not his vocation he saw an empty store that for him, this empty store became an opportunity.
He brought his sons and wife into the dream and with the help of the community has been successful. In spite of the pandemic.
The food is fresh and well prepared. We enjoyed  the flubby, the chubby the pulled pork chubby ( I loved it). This was voted Chicago’s Best .Murphy’s Italian beef( as good as any other beef you have heard about) and some great burgers
We also enjoyed fries that were tasty and tater tots.
If you love milk shakes you are in for a treat. Deliciously served and easily shared, but odds are no one will want to relinquish one drop of theirs- chocolate. Vanilla. Strawberry and cookies and cream
They have a kids menu too and kids are allowed to break the rule and put ketchup on their dog. For the vegan in your family, they offer The Willie Dog ( Vegan soy dog offered Chicago style). Want a Coney (Chili dog), they have it!
Want a Chili/Cheese dog? They have it. They also have chicken tenders for the non-dog eater and chicken tenders, chicken wings and tamales.
The Samburger can be modified to make each member of your party be satisfied.
Flub a dub chubs is located at 3021 n Broadway ( a Chicago hot dog place where you are treated like family)
Phone 773-857-6500
There was a book where Flub a Dub is the hero and Sam and his family welcome your kids art work( hanging in the walk you will see some masterpieces).
I guess the only rough thing about this dining experience is the parking. Broadway is a busy street but there are meters.
Flub a Dub has a rewards club so you can earn free food and they have specials
