“Close Encounters of a Chicago Kind” a fun book

Recommended *** Chicago theater audiences know the name Vicki Quade. Most of us know her from the stage ( as a playwright and actress)) and her “Late Night” plays. The most recognized “Late Night Catechism. Right now, she is streaming “Ho-Ho_holy Night”!

She is also a speaker and talks at many churches and ladies organizations. Her company is Nuns4Fun Entertainment Inc. and her shows tease and make light of the customs and traditions that the Catholic Community lives by.

Vicki is a comic and writes about what she sees. Think back to writers like Mike Royko ( one of my favorites)  and his columns in the Tribune and Daily News ( for you younger folk, those were newspapers that came out daily with things that took place overnight!

My “cousin” Rick Kogan, who writes for the Trib and can be heard on WGN-Radio is another local writer that hits the “nail on the head” with great local flavored stories.

Vickie fits right into their mold and her book, “Close Encounters of a Chicago Kind”, is fund, amusing and will make you think about your life.

Sixteen chapters ( along with an intro and about the author) of “stuff” that looks at our lives through her eyes. Subject  matters are simple and things that relate to us all: The Bank, The post office, The Theater,, The Airport, and of course, The Virus. How can anyone do anything in 2020 and not include THE VIRUS ( and how our lives changed because of it)!

There are some very funny episodes and short stories contained. I found it perfect for reading between doing “other stuff”. Each anecdote , no matter how long, is one that may remind you of an incident that you experienced in your life. I know that many were very familiar to me.

“Close Encounters of a Chicago Kind” is easy reading and will give you many a chuckle. It is filled with many short stories/incidents, ones that may feel familiar to you and again, an easy ( and fun ) read!

The book is published by Eckhartz Press ISBN: 978-1-7360774-1-2 and should be available wherever books are sold.
