Prairie Grass Cafe Northbrook hosts a very special event!

As you all know, Sunday is a very special day for me. It is “radio day” at WCPT 820 AM radio. I get to the studio located in Gladstone Park around an hour or so before my 1 p.m. ON-AIR time, and use my time to organize my time period. While an hour seems long, when you add in the news and ads, it seems far shorter, so as I learned from Paul Lisnek, setting a schedule ( almost minute by minute) makes sense.

Since we do contests and call-in, often that eats some of our time away and over the years, there have been many times where we just ran out of time.

Today was a special day for me and I was hoping to get out at 2 p.m. on the dot, run to my car and drive up to Prairie Grass Cafe in Northbrook for two amazing book signings. Chef Sarah and Chef George, the owners of Prairie Grass, had Bill Kurtis andMicheal Gebert on hand to talk about thier new books, answer some questions, and then do some book signings.

Gebert was first with his book “The Chicago Way: An Oral History of Chicago Dining” and he was followed by Bill Kurtis and “Whirlwind: My Life Reporting the News”

I will give you more on the actual books after reading them, and will offer a review.

The actual day at Prairie Grass was great. I didn’t miss a great deal of the talk, although I did miss some of the tasting portions and light snacks. The iced tea was wonderful with the mugginess of the drive in the storm this afternoon. Included in the afternoon was Rebecca Fyffe as moderater and MC with a few words here and there from Chef Sarah.
