Chicago cabaret artists Anita Kallen and Catherine Thomson head to the Lincolnwood Public Library, 4000 W. Pratt Ave. Lincolnwood, on Sunday, March 22, at 2 PM, to salute the gutsy gals who boldly defied society’s conventions – going where no woman had gone before – and achieved groundbreaking female “Firsts.” With songs by Harold Arlen, Stephen Schwartz, Dolly Parton, Tom Lehrer, Kander & Ebb, and Sara Bareilles, among others, they’ll be sharing inspiring stories of courage, grace, and an unwavering determination to make lemonade from life’s lemons!

Our singers have been coached by Carl Ratner, Christine Steyer and Claudia Hommel to bring their repertoire whether Saint-Saens, Burleigh, Mendelssohn, Bernstein or Rodgers & Hammerstein to an “up front and personal” experience.

We’ve created a sing along experience called “Let’s Sing” that we hope you’ll enjoy. This is going to be a monthly event held at The Check Out, 7:00 p.m. on Monday nights. We’ve brought together a rotating roster of wonderful music directors including Chuck Larkin, Beckie Menzie, Howie Pfeiffer, Carolyn Wehner, Kevin Wood, Mark Burnell and more!

Each month we’ll invite you to sing to your heart’s content for an hour of communal singing. First up, on March 30th, Let’s Sing will include sing along favorites from several genre and eras. Among the selected play list are “All You Need is Love”, “Copacabana” “Que Sera, Sera” and many more. We’re projecting lyrics on the screen so you can read along while you’re enjoying a drink and the company of friends old and new.
