“44-The Musical” returns to Chicago ( the perfect place for this story)

Get ready Chicago. After a record-breaking run in LA, “44- The Musical” is coming to Chicago, the perfect place for this story, and in the perfect venue for a Chicago musical. “44-the Musical” is a satirical look at the rise of Obama in the world of politics, and the Studebaker Theater on Michigan Avenue will be home for this smart production thru September 21st ( or maybe longer).

Tonight, the press and some local politicians were invited for a small preview and reception. We were able to meet the producers ( one of whom is  Eli Bauman, the writer/director/composer), and Monica Saunders-Weinberg. We also were previewed a video showing the production on stage in LA and then some of the performers doing several numbers from the show thta will open here very soon.

While this show is a spoof, allowing us to laugh at the political world we live in, there are points in the story that are of great importance to this country and our future. Many of us are very aware of the man and his political rise. We are also aware that it was Obama that broke one of the big political barriers that the many felt would never take plce. He taught us that one must “never say never”.!

This play with music is the story of one man changing the face of history, but this satire is from a unique angle- it is the story of Obama as Joe Biden kind of remembers it, and that should be great fun. I am looking forward to the opening as I did not witness the previous production they did in Chicago during the Democratic Convention. I am ready now! In fact, I truly believe Chicago is ready now.
