“A Paige In Time” Chicago Magic Lounge

[rating=4]I believe in magic. In fact, I am one of those who love to watch a magician at work. For those of you unaware of Chicago’s history with magic, a great deal of it has to do with  what is called “close-up parlor magic” which for the most part originated here in Chicago. In 2015, the Chicago Magic Lounge opened. The concept was a place where they would feature this special type of magic on a regular basis along with drinks and food. What began as a sometime club is now a thriving destination for tourists and residents.
Each night, they feature different headliners and before each show, local magicians go table to table doing what they do right before your very eyes. In fact, come early ( bar opens at 5 p.m.) and enjoy a drink and some up-close and personal magic at the bar. Even if you are not attending the main attraction.
Wednesdays night also known as “hump Day night” is not usually a busy night , but right now, The Chicago Magic Lounge is hosting the amazing Paige Thompson with her special show called “A Paige In Time”.
Her show is also her history. She tells us about her youth and how she developed the love of magic. As part of her 90 minute set, we learn about her grandmother and we see some of what makes her who she is.
Ms. Thompson has appeared on TV and on stages all over the world and now, Chicago is her hometown which means she might end up doing more than once a week in the future. Meanwhile, her show is full of mystery, comedy and magic. She works the audience to perfection having many audience members participate. Baseball, sports, candy and many little items are part of her routine and each one is better than the previous. I can tell you that her 90 minute set is well worth the cost of the ticket.
By the way, the magic at your table is quite impressive as well. Our table was visited by Magic Sam, who made coins appear in his hand and he was less that 3 feet away. I watched closely and guess what? I never saw how he did it. In fact, I watched Paige do her thing with 100% focus and still cannot figure out some of the “tricks” that are part of her act.
They also have an after show-show inn the 654 club. Only 43 people can attend this special event so the front premium seats include this treat. This is up close magic, up close and personal.
“A Paige In Time” will continue every Wednesday night thru December 21st at 7:30 p.m. ( seating is at 7 p.m. and food is available that is tasty and affordable. Tickets for this show are $45 main floor and $50 Front Row.
