BWB Rocks Highland Park

[rating=4] If you are a burger and wing man ( or person to follow social standards today), you might want to take a ride to Highland Park and pick-up some tasty morsels at BWB Rocks  on Roger Williams ( just a hop, skip and jump from Ravinia). This is a pick-up and delivery restaurant with a great selection of bowls ( salads, that are unique), burgers and wings ( as spicy or as bland as you might like). If you live within delivery range, that is the other part of their service.

In addition, they also have some truly great looking fried chicken ( in reality fri-grilled) with several types of sauce to please anyone in your group. This is great for family outings and I would think for summer visits to Ravinia ( I am hopeful that 2021 will see our favorite summer entertainment spot open again), family outings if we can have them again, or just a dinner with the family. We will try that on the next visit. They also have a great selection of meals for the kids.

We enjoyed three of their salad “bowls”, The Rocks the MED (feta cheese, chicken ,olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, and tahini drizzle), the BORDER (blackened chicken, black beans, roasted corn,cilantro-lime and white rice) and for our third, the GARDEN (  spring mix base, tomatoes, cucumber, red onion and carrots with nice chunks of chicken). The protein choices are up to you. choice steak, tofu or grilled chicken. There are several others to select and they give you all types of dressing.

The burgers, and there are quite a few were delightful and large enough to share. The basic one is the Rocks The Neighborhood-  with their special sauce, lettuce, tomato, raw onion, choice of cheese (cheddar, Swiss or American). Served with house chips or for an extra great french fries. Just the right texture and crispness. Our second choice was the E-I-E-I-O , a juicy burger with bacon, cheddar cheese, fried egg and house made bacon bourbon sauce ( delish!). They also have a border burger, a makes it possible burger and a couple of fish sandwiches ( again for the next visit).

And then came the wings- THE WINGS!  A combination of Hot, spicy, Korean, dry-rubbed, Peri-Peri and tossed. The “hot candy” is mango-riffic going down with a powerful kick to follow. They even have some “boneless wings” that have some kick as well.

Saturday and Sunday they offer menu items that are breakfast ( they open at 8 a.m.)

The kids menu is terrific but limited to “rocks the picky” a burger plain or with cheese and “Bag of Rocks”, ( chicken nuggets) or “Kids can Fly” ( wings).

Available sides are fries instead of homemade chips, Fried pickles ( one of my favorites) and edamame with a pink Himalayan sauce.

Bowls, Wings and Burgers is what BWB ROCKS stands for and while they have no place to sit, they do have a terrific selection of burgers and wings along with their bowls/salads to make a great family dinner, trip to Ravinia ( God-willing this summer), a day at the pool or beach or any special event or just dinner at home.

The food was ready to go and the items were well marked in their containers. I drove home to Wheeling and even after a 20 minute drive, the food was still hot.  While I would not classify the wings as the best in the area, I did find them tasty and meaty with sauces that were tangy and different. The burgers were truly standout and ranked with some of our favorites and the salads were all tasty and plentiful.

BWB Rocks is located at 586 Roger Williams in Highland Park.
