My Special Day

trophyWinning the World Series was an exciting event for Cubs fans. In fact, it was a major event.Yesterday, we were able to visit and have a photo- op with the actual trophy. They set up the glass enclosed miracle of Clark and Addison down the construction crazed street from Wrigley Field, where we  entered at a special time. Very organized- we had special tickets. We went up the stairs, and the entire time spent in the Metro- about 25 minutes. When we got up to the designated space, Cubs employees took our phones and took our posed pictures. Each of us, alone and then a group shot.

We were allotted 4 visitors in our group. Since my ticket partner resides in Florida this time of year (due to the cold weather- yesterday was 70 degrees, I think) I chose my old friend Larry, who has been joining me on opening day for many years, and the owner of the restaurant where I dine each a.m. Peter. Since my kids and grandkids were unavailable, for the fourth, one of Chicago’s fine actors, Stef Tovar joined us. He had already been on the trophy tour and had an opportunity, but for this special occasion, he wore the Cubs cap that was once our good friend Harlan’s. Harlan passed away never seeing the glory of our team, but having his cap with the trophy will be a positive vibe for both of us, his family and, of course, the Cubbies.

What a great moment!trophy2
