Labor Day has passed, the votes are in and what appeared to be a Georgia ( Georgia Peach as selected by Scott Duff of “Out Chicago) victory, turned out to be an upset by Amaretto Cherry ( the selection of Al Bresloff, Around The Town Chicago).
The selections were made in early July as both contenders met at Windy City Sweets ( a wonderful emporium located at 3308 N. Broadway ( a sweet spot in Chicago).
Each of the WCPT radio hosts tried several flavors and as the morning turned into noon, each made the selection. The flavor they felt was the best of the best!
Candy Man John Manchester, marked each with info as to the celebrity and their choice. His part- to keep score and as this is also a fund-raiser for Chicago’s Anti Cruelty Society, he promised that each scoop would yield 50 cents in honor of their fundraising efforts.
The final count is in:
Amaretto Cherry 209 scoops
Georgia Peach 184 scoops
Anti Cruelty Society $200 as Manchester is playing this as 400 scoops .
If you want to make a donation to the anti cruelty society, I am sure they would love your assistance.
We are pretty sure that there will be a re-match for 2024 and perhaps something this winter dealing with candy- the selection at Windy City is amazing.
