“Follies” a celebration of Stephen Sondheim’s 80th

For anyone who loves ( or even just appreciates) the work of Stephen Sondheim, you are in for a rare treat. As pert of The Chicago Humanities Festival, for ONE NIGHT ONLY, some of Chicago's finest musical theater talents will gather at Francis W. Parker School, in the Diane and David B. Heller Auditorium to present a "Cabaret" evening of one of his rarely produced musicals, "Follies".

For anyone who loves ( or even just appreciates) the work of Stephen Sondheim, you are in for a rare treat. As pert of The Chicago Humanities Festival, for ONE NIGHT ONLY, some of Chicago’s finest musical theater talents will gather at Francis W. Parker School, in the Diane and David B. Heller Auditorium to present a “Cabaret” evening of one of his rarely produced musicals, “Follies”. Just off their Jeff Award season of 2010, Doug Peck and Rob Lindley will host a cast of both Cabaret and musical stage performers the likes of which are seldom seen together;

Beckie Menzie and Tom Michael, E. Faye Butler, Rebecca Finnegan,Jess Godwin,Kevin Gudahl, Iris Lieberman,Renee Mathews,Abby Mueller, Hollis Resnik,Barbara Robertson, Peggy Roeder,Emily Rohm,Patrick Sarb,Alan Schmuckler and Jonathan Weir will take on Sondheim’s marvelous score featuring  notable songs ,”Losing My Mind”, “Could I Leave You” and “Broadway Baby”. You will hear songs that were added for the London production as well as some of the original songs that were cut from the original production.

This promises to be an evening that you will never forget and hard to believe, the tickets are only $20 ( teachers and students, only $5 a real bargain). Parker School is located in Lincoln Park at 2233 N. Clark Street, easy to get to by bus ( 22 Clark or the 36 Broadway) The time for the show: 7:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.- just think, two hours of Sondheim- what a night!
