Summer in Chicago! The perfect ice cream weather. For the past two years, two WGN personalities have had contests dealing with ice cream flavors. The ice cream is found at Windy City Sweets located at 3308 N. Broadway. This year, we thought we might have a WGN versus WCPT contests, but instead decided to have two of our Sunday shows compete.
Scott Duff, host of “Out Chicago” heard from 10 a.m. until Noon and myself, Al Bresloff of Around The Town Chicago” heard form 2 p.m.-3 p.m.
Both Scott and I met at the candy store, tried a few flavors and after doing so, we each selected our favorite:
Scott’s selection:”Georgia Peach” ( chunks of peaches in creamy peach ice cream)
My Selection : Amaretto Cherry ( Amaretto ice cream with pieces of cherry and slivers of chocolate)
Now- The “candy man” John Manchester will donate money to The Chicago Anti Cruelty Society, based on purchases of these flavors. Each purchase will also gain a vote, and they will be counted until August 20th at close of business.
Mr. Manchester will announce the winner. Should there be a tie, former winner, Paul Lisnek will try each flavor and his vote will be the tie-breaker.
