This morning, I was asked to attend a very special occasion in Waukegan. For those who remember Lakehurst Shopping Mall, located on Route 43 and Route 120 ( Belvedere Rd), it is now going through a major transformation. The enclosed mall is gone, and in its place, some hotels, dining spots and the American Place Casino ( right now in a temporary structure that just broke ground today for a structure that will transform Fountain Square into an upscale gaming and entertainment destination for visitors to Lake County Illinois.
The new structure will feature a world class casino, a multi-tiered entertainment venue, and several dining spots, and a private villa where players can spend some time away from the games, dining and entertainment, and just relax!
Full House Resorts, the developers of American Place Casino, under the local leadership pf Jeff Babinski, General Manager/Vice President and his staff have paved the way for this magnificent addition to the City of Waukegan and Lake County. Frank and I have visited American Place Casino several times, exploring their unique dining experiences, playing their many games, and enjoying several of the comedians in their comedy club. The food has been terrific! The comedy, funny! The games and points an experience! The people that work at American Place Casino, extraordinary!
I know, based on today’s speeches, that this is a process that will take time, but the finished casino will bring many new jobs to the area, and bring other businesses to lake County Illinois. Waukegan is rebuilding and doing a great job. I am looking forward to watching this work in progress, progress, and will be ready for the grand opening when the new facility is
