The results are in- the voting is over! For the second year, it turns out that WGN’s Paul Lisnek’s flavor has been declared the winner of the “newsman” from WGN. Yes, despite competitor Steve Dale’s declarations that the voting was “rigged”, the proof was in the pudding ( an old saying), or should we say “pothole”!
Last year, on my show, I declared that that Banana Pudding was the winner ( my listeners and I agreed) but Paul said Peppermint won ( while I didn’t think it could, who am I to dispute him as I never saw the actual results) I saw only the WCPT results!
This year, these newsmen returned to Windy City Sweets located at 3308 N. Broadway in Chicago
www.windycitysweets.com 773-477-6100 to do it again.
As reported earlier, FYI- if you buy either of these flavors, a portion of the money will be donated to The Anti Cruelty Society, so not only will you be enjoying your ice cream and inflating their egos, you will be helping those in need of your help.
The selections were:
Paul’s flavor “Chicago Pothole” is a very very chocolate flavor with chunks versus, Steve’s Mom’s Apple Pie- The people that I sent in all preferred the Pothole as it was unique and different than they were used to. I think, based on the two years of this contests, we have found that despite a flavor sounding right and “American”, it is the unique flavor that ends up being the “fan favorite”. While Lisnek’s flavor is the winner, the actual winner of this contests is the Anti-Cruelty Society as they are given a percentage of every scoop of both flavors sold.
I am in hopes that for 2023 we can expand the contest to add another radio station- WCPT820 and its host, Alan Bresloff ( yes, me!) and make it an even bigger event.
