“Fefu and Her Friends” SEASON OF CONCERN

Every year, about this time, every theater participates in Season of Concern, a major fund raiser. THE emergency fund raiser for Chicago theater artists. Under normal circumstances, at the end of each production, the actors will greet the audience members in the foyer with a bucket, so they can help those who are in need.

Season of Concern provides financial assistance to Chicagoland theater practitioners impacted by illness, injury or circumstances that prevent them from working. This year, due to the Covid 19 pendemic, even more so. There is no live theater, but thanks to Theater Wit ( and Jeremy Wechsler) and The Elizabeth Morse Charitable Trust along with The Actors Fund, there is a special fund raiser. It is an all woman show made up of a dream team of Top Actrs, “Fefu and Her Friends” written by Maria Irene Fornes and directed by Stacy Stoltz.

The show will take place on December 5th at 7 p.m.

Today, on my radio show, Ms Stoltz and the producer , Mary Beth Fisher joined Frank and I to talk about the show and how the production works.

It is a simple process. You can call 312-332-0518 or visit www.seasonofconcern.org

The cost is $10 ( $5 for students and seniors) or whatever amount over you might be in a position to donate to this cause. This is the holiday season and we know that everyone is reaching out for help. Whatever you can do, we hope you can  offer more, but whatever you can is , as always, appreciated.

The show is roughly 90 minutes in length. The story settles some very unsettled feelings about how women in the United State are feeling right now. If you see yourself as powerless, how do you flip flop and show power? If you think you have been muffled, how do you get your voice back? This play tackles “gender roles, friendship, love, sexuality, conformity, community, haves ad have-nots with an all-star cast:

Charin Alvarez, Sandra Delgado, Ora Jones, Delia Kropp, Sadieh Rifai, Lisa Tejero, Janet Urich Brooks and Penelope Walker- WOW!

If you are a typical Chicago theater patron, I am sure you have witnessed each and every one of these talented ladies on our stages. Now, you get a chance to see them all, telling a wonderful story and at the same time, assisting those artists who may need help. If you can’t watch it on Saturday, you will have several days to do so after making the purchase. This is special- enjoy
