Palm Court Fine Dining and Spirits

[rating=5] It has been years since I visited The Palm Court Fine Dining and Spirits in Arlington Height’s. This beautiful space is what many might call a  “supper club ” atmosphere ( or was back in  its early days) with several rooms for private parties and a marvelous bar. I recall this being THE place that the kids went for dances and dinners during their high school days and I know that many of the couples that we “hung” with during the 1980’s loved this spot.

Over the years, as I moved around spending a great number of those years down IN the heart of Chicago. I lost sight of the uniqueness of this restaurant. Located at Arlington Heights Road and Palatine Road ( the west extension of Willow Road), and now living in the area ( again), and with the situation we are living in at present, we picked up our dinner tonight at “curbside”. This is a beautiful room, but we will have to wait for the future to once again see it in all of its splendor. Meanwhile, we had a dinner that will knock your sox off. FYI- there are new owners and some changes in the menu ( all positive might I say) and until we can return to those thrilling days of dining in the restaurant, I will tell you that they do a great job of packaging a meal for easy take home. Please note in the photos, from review to review the same plates are because we “plate” when we unpackage, thus the “presentation” is mine, not that of the restaurant.

Our dinner began with the grilled calamari ( they offer it fried as well, but our choice is always grilled) these were grilled to perfection and only needed 10 seconds in the “nuke” to make just right. For our entrees we selected one meat an d one fish plate ( they have a huge variety to select from). Each dinner came with a side salad and soup, but we also ordered the Palm Court Salad, which is pictured still in its container to show you how wonderful their portions are. Since the side salads were also plentiful, we chose to do the Palm Salad for Friday lunch.

Our soup was a delicious  creak of rice with chicken with a terrific zing. By the way, even though this was a curbside dinner, we were given some delicious rolls to add to our dinner.

The entree’s that we selected were the Filet Medallions- twin 4 oz filet mignons, grilled to perfection served with artichoke, béarnaise and bordelaise. Our sides included delicious boiled red ( but the offer bakes, mashed, sweet mashed, twice baked or French fries or even rice). As you can see from the plate, the portions are generous.  The steaks were juicy and tender, a nice crusty outside and just the right shade of pink inside. It was almost as if the chef knew what we wanted.

On the fish dinner ( there were so many choices) we selected the North Atlantic Salmon, served with potatoes and veggies . This is prepared and served with champagne sauce and it too was poached to perfection. Very flavorful and the sauces just enough zing to make it unique and special.

For our dessert, they included the cheesecake you see pictured- WOW! I know that when the season changes, they add their homemade key lime pie and based on the fact that I know we will be going back, I have that on my list of things to savor for the flavor.

Palm Court Fine Dining and Spirits is located at 1912 Arlington Heights Road ( at the corner of Palatine Road) and has plenty of parking ( including valet) when they are open for dining. Meanwhile, for carry out, it is an easy pull in access. The menu is available at their website www.palmcourt.net and the phone number is  847-870-7770.

By the way, Mother’s Day menu is pretty special and can be preordered. A complete family dinner serving 4-6- can be ordered by May 8th for pick-up on Sunday. On it, they offer Chateau Briand. Macadamia Encrusted Halibut, or Roasted Leg of Lamb packages. This is in addition to their regular menu which as I said is filled with great dishes. During these crazy times, enjoying special family events is not as we are used to and restaurants have had to adjust to our needs. Palm Court Fine Dining and Spirits has done just that. Your experience will be memorable, even at home!

They also have a menu for the vegetarians and a chicken Piccata that looks very tempting for the chicken lovers. They also can satisfy the gluten free diners.

During this period in our history they are open for dinner pick-ups. Check out changes at www.palmcourt.net
