“Burn The Floor”

Highly recommended   What is theater? For many it is entertainment, and for others a diversion from the stress of everyday life. Today,February 1st, 2011 , a day when the snow is falling and blowing in what the TV people are calling one of the worst storms ever to hit Chicago. On a day when it took me over an hour to drive 2 miles; I truly needed a diversion and I got one! “Burn The Floor”, a wonderful two hours of dancing and music  that takes ballroom dancing to a whole new level. It is Electrifying, sensual and erotic with one of them most energy packed troupe of dancers I have ever seen on any stage. WOW! that would have to be a one word description of this energy packed show with dancers from all over the world and more talented than any of the “Dancing with The Stars” dancers since day one. Seven of these troupe members are from the other dance TV show “So You Think You Can Dance” and the answer is a definite YES!

All twenty of these dancers, who take us through  the Cha-Cha, Viennese Waltz, Samba, Rumba, Jive, Waltz, Salsa, Tango and Paso Doble over the two acts that tell a story of “Inspiration”, “Things that Swing”, The Latin Quarter” and “CODA-The Last Part” with an absolute thrilling finale “Turn The Beat Around” that will have you leaping out of your seats. These are not just dancers, but extraordinary dancers who leap from one number to another on the stage at the Bank Of America Theatre as well as in the aisles:

Sharma Burgess,Santo Costa, Ashleigh DiLello,Ryan Di Lello, Igor Dogoter,Sasha Farber ( his legs are like rubber with the flexing he does),Anya Garnis,Natalia Gorshkova, Karen Hauer, Faye Huddleston, Ash Leigh Hunter, Robbie Kmetoni,Pasha Kovalev, Tristan MacManus, Janette Manrara,Damien Samuel, Aljaz Skorjanec, Emma Slater,Sarah Soriano and Gary Wright. The singers that they dance to, Peter Saul and Vonzell Solomon ( from “American Idol” add the heart and soul that makes these dance numbers more theatrical and story-telling. The music is enhanced by percussionists Joseph Malone and Henry Soriano. As you can see by the names o fthe cast members, this is indeed an International show that will appeal to any audience. I can tell you the the opening night audience, as small as it was ( due to the weather) walked out of the Bank of America Theatre walking on air ( just above the several inches of snow) with having had the time of their lives! Do not miss this marvelous production that was directed and choreographed by Jason Gilkson, you will experience the passion and drama of the dance, as never before. Don’t rush out after the finale as the curtain call is a production unto itself. Enjoy!

Tuesday,Thursday and Sundays at 7:30 P.M.,  Wednesday, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 P.M.- matinees on Wednesday,Saturday and Sunday at 2 P.M.
