[rating=3.5]Otherworld theatre is known as a Science Fiction Fantasy Theatre company. Through the years they have put on some wild shows, this one takes the cake. Considering being an owner of Cats, I had to see this one. This takes place in the future, Earth is gone, but before its destruction they gave voice and conscience to Cats. But in this new universe it seems all animals now have the ability to talk and have conscience. So Cats don’t get along with Dogs, and those animals do not get along with rats and other animals who are all out to take over the galaxy.
The two main characters who must be based on the movie Dumb and Dumber are two Starfleet dropouts Mittens and Socks, played by Mar Warner and Belle Decker, these two cats are always high. It seems catnip is outlawed but vaping is OK. It seems these two dropouts always come through with a solution by sheer luck or stupidity. The Dogs Spot and Fifi played by Ian Vytlacil and Carson Bartholomew who also play 7 other characters are excellent at there different animals. The show uses every major sci-fi idea. From Star Trek to Dr Who, to Star Wars, it’s an 8-part sage, that takes place over several decades but compressed to two hours with an intermission.
The theatre is a true small black box theatre that hold 25 people. The bar has some clever drinks named after the shows characters, and plenty of parking on Clark Street. ( not so if Cubs are in town or a concert at Wrigley)
