We often speak about Chicago’s vibrant dining scene and how lucky we are to have the wonderful restaurants in the suburbs, the neighborhoods, and of course in the loop. The term “loop” is a bit misleading in that it represents the area within the boundaries of the “EL” train tracks creating what is termed the “loop” around “downtown”. This has greatly expanded overt he years and with the “River Walk” area just north of Wacker Drive, our restauarnt scene is much farther reaching. River North is where it is at.
There is a dining space that I was unaware of in this vibrant area. It is called Kitchen & Kocktails, and while it has been here for a few years, it just became known to me. This week, I spoke to the founder of this extablishment ( it is one of several locations) and my interview with Kevin will be found below. Last night, Frank, Jane and I attended a sort of “coming out party” at the Chicago location, 339 N. Dearborn . This is not something you will see clearly when driving North on Dearborn, but it is nestled between two buildings ( a hotel and Marina Towers) in an area referred to as Marina City. Once you walk in the door, you will be transmitted to a whole new world.
Last night was a gala and so the physical look was altered to allow for the entertainment ( a sort of Cirque ) and while we did not get to try all the flavors of all the menu items, we did get to sample some of their “down home beverages” and several of their food items. The menu is enormous, and if you like “comfort food”, then “this is the place”!

I am hopeful that we will have the opportunity to come back under normal circumstances so we can tell you more about the flavors of this wonderful establishment.
