The theater world is staying home during this crisis, and just as antsy to get back on the “boards” as we are to be in a position to watch them. Many of our companies have decided to offer some programs with the use of our computer technology. This will be of great interest to many of you and will make their days go faster.
For those of you who watched last nights “Season of Concern” concert hosted by Ana Belaval “Live At Home” they were able to raise over $10,000 for this organization. Theater audiences are used to being greeted by cast members with buckets to raise funds for this organization. Last night, on UTUBE we were entertained by Chicago greats in their own homes. They told us of what their lives were and then brought us some wonderful music. We met the Godinez family, E.Faye Butler, Michael Mahler, Angela Ingersoll, Heidi Kettenrig along with David Girolmo, the gloriousCory Goodrich, Sharriese Hamilton, Adam Jacobs, James Earl Jones ( doing a Sondheim favorite), Mark David Kaplan, Michelle Lauto, Bethany Thomas , Miguel Cervantes ( our “Hamilton”) and many more. The last guest was Tony Award winner Jessie Mueller who was not only a delight, but matched funds for the final ten minutes of the evening.
I am pretty sure you can find a link on WGN’s website and can still donate money to this worthy cause at www.seasonofconcern.com/donate
