[rating=5]It’s hard to believe, from its humble beginnings, back at Live Bait Theatre in Chicago, to the Royal George theatre. Nuns4fun entertainment which also has gone through several name changes has been providing great humor based on the education system of the Catholic School system.
There newest show by Vicki Quade also stars the M.C. Nancy Greco, is loosely based on the TV show Who Wants to be a millionaire but is more like Who wants to get out of Purgatory. The show takes place in a reconstructed schoolroom that you would have found in most Catholic schools in the 40, 50, and 60’s. Set Designers Scott Flores and Jason Shivers, did an excellent job recreating this, down to the faux linoleum floor.
There are plenty of questions in the beginning thrown out to the audience to try and get 4 contestants to play. And the nice thing, a lot of audience participation of using children to help with sound affects and with keeping score. This is a show you can bring the whole family too. Ans the prizes are all things that you would have found back in the 60’s.
This two hour show with intermission is great, was well worth it, the money use to go that they collect afterwards was to help an order of nuns that did not have social security when they retired. Which of course is part of the wrongs of the Church, the priest were taken care of, but not the nun. They raised over the last 30 years over $4 million. Now they are raising money for the Sisters of the Nazarene order, which is headquartered in Des Plaines, with their Mother House located in the Ukraine.
The show now is at the Greenhouse Theater located at 2257 N. Lincoln Avenue in the heart of the DePaul Lincoln Park area.
Tickets are $20, and parking is plentiful in the area.
They have extended this production to Aug 30th.
Performances are as follows:
