Uvae Kitchen and Wine Bar brings great favors to Andersonville

***** A few weeks ago, I attended an event where several restaurants participated in raising some money. One of the stations that I experienced was Uvae, a Kitchen and Wine Bar located in Andersonville. Lindsey Anderson, owner and Sommelier invited me to come by and see their entire menu and tonight, Frank, Cary, Jane and I did just that. For a Tuesday night, the restaurant was fairly full, which was a pleasant surprise. We were seated and our server, Emma made sure that the beverages were perfect. As usual, Frank and Cary enjoyed one of the fine wines available. They have a second room where you can go to taste wines. It is called the Fromagerie and Tasting Room, and they were also busy, again, for a Tuesday night in November.

As we looked at the menu, we saw that they have a great selection of “shareables”, and we allowed Emma, who truly knows her stuff to assist with the selection. We began with a Charcuterie ( a platter of cheeses, breads and spreads, that was easily enough for 4). They have a great selection of “snacks” including deviled eggs ( maybe next time, as that is one of my favorites). We followed that with a myriad of “small plates”: Crispy Brussel Sprouts (grilled to perfection), Lobster Cake ( the sauce is amazing), Bacon Wrapped Shrimp ( these were with a blue-cheese sauce and the bacon as crisp as one could want), Scallops (butternut squash sauce), Braised Pork, Roasted Duck, Short Ribs Wellington (to die for)and squash salad. These can be entrees, but sharing is a great experience.

The menu is far larger than these items so I would have to say that there is not a taste that cannot be satisfied in this charming dining space. By the way, I saw other entrees pass by that will surely bring me back. everything was flavorful, and the presentations were beautiful. Often you hear people say that it was a dining experience that will be remembered for some time to come. I will say that dinging at Uvae was just that. Having a wonderful meal with friends and experiencing the flavors that we discussed as we ate. Yes, one portion at a time so that we could truly taste the sensational items that are prepared by their chefs.

They have a sparkling dessert menu as well. We opted for the Crème Brule ( I opened it up so you can see the beauty of the inside as well as the crispiness of the top and their bread pudding ( one of my favorite desserts) made just right.
