[rating=4]Not sure if you have noticed, but there seem to be a great number of restaurants that are ONLY open for breakfast and lunch. I hardly remember anything like this back when I was growing up. Every restaurant that was open for breakfast was open all day ( dinner as well). Yes, there were restaurants that were ONLY for dinner and perhaps a few that were lunch and dinner, but breakfast and lunch? Nada!
As part of the change in our world, this is the new restaurant concept. In fact, there are several new restaurants named Brunch or brunch is part of the name. I recall the first ne with that name being down on Orleans Street near the Ohio exit of the Kennedy. Now they are everywhere.
Nestled in a small shopping center in Lincolnshire, there is a new spot. The name is Chipy Cafe and it is about as small as a restaurant can be. My friend Barry and I met there the other day for lunch, although we both enjoyed breakfast meals. They have a wide variety of breakfast items. Barry had a couple of eggs with an English muffin, bacon and some very crispy bacon.
I enjoyed Hoppel Poppel ( something one finds mostly in a deli) with nice chunks of salami, and some fruit as well as whole wheat toast. they have a huge choice of omelettes, bread bowl skillets and daily breakfast specials. Waffles and pancakes are specialties and they have crepes that look pretty good.
The luncheon menu is filled with salad creations, platters, Paninis and sandwiches as well as some extraordinary wraps. This is a family restaurant so they have a variety of kids stuff on their kids menu. While Chipy;s has a comfy dining area ( in the warm weather they do have outside seating), since the Pandemic, they have found that many diners prefer ordering to be picked up or delivered. They will make sure that your are just as satisfied either way.
Take a look at the menu- www.chipycafe.com
They are located at 275 Parkway Drive in Lincolnshire. This is the center where Big Bowl and the movie theaters are located, and they are just east of the closed Red Robin Restaurant.
