***** BRUNCH! A blend of breakfast and lunch meals that are served all day in many restaurants in the greater Chicago area. Two weeks ago, I mentioned a novel ( and delicious) sandwich I enjoyed at a restaurant way out in Libertyville. In fact, I was so far north in Libertyville, that I wasn’t sure it was indeed Libertyville. The sandwich I enjoyed- Brisket Grilled Cheese. Wow!
Well, today, I went back to Wildberry Pancakes and Cafe, located at 1783 N. Milwaukee Avenue in Libertyville ( at route 137) to try some of the other menu items. In attendance with Jane and I, our friends, Marla and Danny. We were greeted by the manager Danielle and escorted to our booth. This is a huge facility with one very large dining area and a few smaller areas. Since we were there after the lunch thrust, we had a few choices of tables and found one that was perfect.
While we did share a Brisket Grilled Cheese sandwich ( tender brisket and mozzarella, cheddar and pepper jack cheeses on their homemade brioche) which was loved by all, there were 4 other items from their amazingly huge selection. If they cannot please someone in your party, that person is evidently not hungry!
Pay attention to their fries- even after we were all fully fed, each and every one of us kept reaching over for “one more fry!”
Jane and Marla were into trying their salads ( a nice selection of choices). Jane chose the Mediterranean Chcken (grilled chicken strips on a green salad) , while Marla chose the Wildberry (their signature salad) that included greens, berry dressing along with assorted fresh berries, grapes, goat cheese and mandarin oranges- a delight.
Dan selected a wrap- the Buffalo Chicken Wrap ( Buffalo chicken in a flour tortilla with cheddar, corn, lettuce and pico de gallo. Just spicy enough!
As much as I LOVE grilled cheese ( in every way, shape and form), I am also a French Toast fanatic. I believe I have tried every type of French Toast made. Their Brioche French Toast was amazing and I am already prepared to visit again to try the “Signature Berry Bliss” and I know I must try the Chocolate Banana Bread French Toast. They have many sandwiches and crepes as well as Belgian Waffles as well as omelets. pancakes, benedicts and sizzlin’ skillets. In looking at their extensive menu of meals and sides, I believe one could go to Wildberry Pancakes and Café once a week for a year and never duplicate a meal. Yes, 52 different meals and each one would be satisfying!
