Treating pets with healthy meals- from the Sher family to your family

For many years, my office was in Wheeling. As a member of the chamber of commerce, I was able to meet many local business owners. I was very impressed with many, in particular to those who cared and exceeded the expectations of their customers. I was always that type of person and when I met the Sher family and learned more about their Evanger’s Pet Food company, I realized they were special. The company is well over 80 years old and when Joel and Holly took over, they put the spotlight on the company’s own brand, Evanger.

Due to the rebuilding of Wheeling and it’s Town Center and train station, the Sher family moved their headquarters and factory to Markham, Illinois. The move was only 50 miles, but they were now in position to expand the operation, allowing for different size tins for their product. While canned products are the core of their brand, other offerings include dry pet food have been added to make the brand more complete. They work with a co-manufacturer for its dry food line as they continue to specialize in the cannery and canned foods.

One of the company’s most recent innovations is the “Against The Grain” brand’s single ingredient line called “nothing else”. Each can contains one single ingredient- beef, chicken, pork, duck, salmon or turkey- nothing else! The texture is a loaf-in-gravy texture, and the gravy creates a natural bone broth. They also have pure vegetarian meals.

Against the Grain is operated by their children, twins, Chelsea and Brett Sher. Evanger’s is the “parent” company ( just as Joel and Holly are their parents) and the one thing they ALL  believ in is exceeding the expectations of their clients. The bets for your pets!
