While there are many truly funny people in the world, how does one get “found”? There are ways! One of these “ways” is a club where an “open Mike” allows those who THINK they are funny to compete against those who ARE truly funny with a live audience. The small comedy clubs have always been great for this. On their “off nights”, they have allowed “would be comedians” to strut their stuff. With the demise of Zany’s in Vernon Hills, this valuable experience was lost on the North Shore/Northern Suburbs.
Well, guess what, “funny people”! Steve Besbeas, proprietor of Chatterbox of Long Grove, along with his sponsors, Jerry Kugler, Attorney at Law, Chicago News and “www.aroundthetownchicago.com” are bringing back “Open Mike” night at the Chatterbox in Long Grove. The second floor intimate setting should make for the perfect night for young ( and some older “young” comedians to show us what they have!).The program starts on Wednesday, August 17th at Chatterbox of Long Grove , 330 Old McHenry Road, second floor.
Bring your friends and family. Admission is FREE. Bar is CASH and I hear the food is pretty tasty .Judges will select winners each week for four weeks and they will return on the fifth week for a “JOKE-OFF”. Prizes and awards will be given out and if it is a success, the progress will continue on with a larger venue and bigger prizes at the end of the microphone cord. This is your chance to show the world that you are as “funny as you think you are”
