Can’t beat a beautiful day in Chicago. Memorial Day Week-end started off with a gorgeous dry day as Jane and I drove down ( top down of course) to the annual “Garden Party” at The Randolph Market , located at 1371 West Randolph Street in the West Loop area. This is the 21st year for this festival and I believe the second or third for us.
There are 175 vendors who have unusual items and vintage clothing as well as some jewelry options ( Jane loves to do jewelry and purses.
We began our visit at Sally’s Cabana where we enjoyed Bloody Mary’s, bagels and coffee and ran into friends Steve and Robin ( from WGN, of course). After dining, I grabbed a cup of coffee and Jane did a cold brew ( I still do not understand that) from a local vendor.
As we walked around looking at the myriad of items available we saw many amazing shops and hordes of people making purchases. The economy appears to be “back in business”. There is also entertainment both today and Sunday the 26th starting at ao:00 a.m.
Bring your appetite. Here are some of the vendors and what they serve: Happy Lobster (lobster rolls), Millie’s Pancakes ( pancakes and waffles),Rainbow cone, Dinky’s Delights, Fat Shallot. Taste of Greece. The entertainment is jazz, country western and the sweet sounds that will uplift your spirits.
This is a “rain or shine” event each of the days until 5 p.m. Buy your tickets online at www.randolphstreetmarket.com
There are indoor as well as outdoor vendors and you can bring your dogs ( outside)
They even have Wayfair on premise where you can get free goodies and spin the wheel ( like on “The Price is Right” and win prizes that will save you money at their new store in Wilmette ( the old Carson’s in Edens Plaza).
