“Our Kind of Town”

During this crazy period in our time, and knowing that many artists and workers are without income, the Arts & Business Council of Chicago, a group that has been supporting the arts, cultural and creative enterprises for 35 years has put together a fund raiser. “Our Kind Of Town” offers the public an opportunity to participate in the #35ChiMusic35 campaign at www.ChiMusic35.com.

This includes:

  1. a challenge to define “the 35 greatest moments in Chicago Music History”
  2.  a raffle to help our city’s creative rebuild and recover from the COVID-19 crisis.

The challenge runs from May 18th until June 19, 2020

DJ’s, producers and journalists are participating and the public ( that is you, of course) are more than welcome to join the festivities.

FYI

Music has always been home to Chicago. It is where Louis Armstrong cut his first record. It is where Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf made the blues electric, which started “Rock N’ Roll” and Chicago is where the likes of Gospel began. For years recording companies were on the South Side and even what is now called the “South Loop”. We love who we are and this program will help those who create the music to continue to do so during a period that no one could have anticipated.
