Those of you who were lucky enough to witness Hershey Felder’s “Irving Berlin” last time around, you now have a second opportunity to watch this master of the “one man show” recreate the life of one of America’s greatest musicians, Irving Berlin. Felder is an amazing musician himself, but when he takes on the persona of Berlin ( as he has done with other magical music makers), one forgets that he is an actor creating the man. Instead, it is as if he has brought the man back to life, so he can tell us “his” story. And what a story it was.
Felder takes us though the life from his leaving his family and country to the new life in America and how he contributed to what might be called “The Great American Songbook”. I will be reviewing the show again, but meanwhile, take a gander in my archives. Knowing how Felder works, I can only anticipate that his performance, like a fine wine, will be even more delicious than the previous one.
If you did not see it the first time, or have never seen Felder onstage ,Shame on you! This is your chance!
The show will run from April 7th thru May 8th at The Royal George Theatre located at 1641 N. Halsted Street.
