We love Fat Rosie’s. They are everywhere and at last, Rosemont has their Rosie.
As they prepare to open, Jane and I were invited to see the location, enjoy some food ( and of course a beverage) and let everyone know that the new location is ready to bring the charm of Mexico to Rosemont. They are in what is called “The Entertainment Center” adjacent to the movie theaters, bowling lanes and several dining and entertainment venues. The address is 5433 Park Place and there is a wonderful garage as well as valet parking. They probably need to get some signage in the garage as it took us about 7 minutes to get our bearings and go to the correct level to enter the courtyard where all the action takes place.
Under the control of executive chef Dudley Nieto and with a great staff , they offered a sampling menu, but I must say, unlike other restaurants who have invited us to these “tastings”, the items offered were top-notch and certainly not finger-food. Our server, Francisco explained the menu in full detail and made sure our experience was perfect.
We began the dinner with Mango house margaritas infused with tajin rim along with mango. They have a great selection of margaritas and cocteles to select from. Chips and salsa were brought to us and of course, Guacamole. For our food- Carne Asada ( two grilled steak tacos drizzled with avocado-tomatillo salsa topped with pico de gallo & queso fresco ). They were delicious.
From the PLATOS menu, Tampiquena ( a Fat Rosie Favorite): grilled skirt steak with one “enchilada Roja”, grilled queso fresco, rajas, Mexican rice & beans, cilantro & guacamole served with corn tortillas. TO DIE FOR! The steak was as tender as I have ever enjoyed! For dessert, Pastel Tres Leches- vanilla sponge cake with fresh berries. The perfect end to this charming experience.
If you have been waiting for Fat Rosie’s to come nearer to you, Rosemont is very close to the city and many western suburbs. Rosemont is a place that many go to for entertainment and now you have a wonderful experience in Fat Rosie’s .
