As we re-enter the world that we once knew- “pre-Covid”, I am excited to note that the Chicago Latino Theater Alliance is back with their “Destinos- 4th Chicago International Latino Theater festival. Tonight I attended an opening event that allowed me to once again see my friends from the area Latino theater companies. I have missed them on our stages as I have missed all of our theaters. Chicago is fortunate to be where many Latino theater companies not only began, but have thrived, and despite the pandemic, found ways to do so, making sure that once the theater world was ready to commence, they would be there.
The galas tonight was hosted at the National Museum of Mexican Art- Ray Castro Plaza in Pilsen, a place that I spend much time with during my LaRaza and TeleGuia Days. The food was catered by May Street and thanks to our weather people, we were able to have this entire function outdoors making it a time that we could see each other’s faces again. It has been awhile and it was great to see the faces of those actors and actresses I have watched mature on the stages at Teatro Luna, Teatro Vista. Urban Theatre Company and of course Steppenwolf, The Goodman Theatre, Chopin Theatre, Shakespeare Theatre at Navy Pier , Aguijon Theater and a host of other venues within the city limits.
The festival will begin on September 23rd and run thru October 17th. I will attend many of the productions and will review on this website and on WCPT820 am radio ( Sundays 2-3 p.m.)
Visit www.clata.org for tickets, show dates, times, locations and info on the artists.

This will be sensational!
