Broadway In Chicago “previews” the upcoming season

Last night was a special one. As they do each year, Broadway In Chicago, along with ABC -TV brings the city of Chicago, a night to remember!  Hosted by Janet Davies, thousands of audience members were gathered at Millennium Park, at the Marvelous Pritzker Pavillion to enjoy a preview of the 12 productions that will hit our stages in the upcoming 2018-2019 season. Ms. Davies was joined by Santino Fontana, who will be coming here to do the Pre-Broadway “Tootsie”, in bringing us the great talents that were on the stage for 90 plus exciting minutes of musical entertainment. What made it even more special was a beautiful night along Michigan Avenue for the filled to capacity park!

The shows that Chicago will have the opportunity to see this season are:

Heartbreak Hotel ( onstage currently in an open-run) at The Broadway Playhouse. This is the “prequel to “Million Dollar Quartet” looking at the early Elvis ears

A retooled “Miss Saigon”, Betty Buckley headlining “Hello Dolly”, The musical version of “Charlie and The Chocolate Factory”, which looks adorable, the musical version of “A Bronx Tale “, a new version of “Cats” ( one of my all time favorites, and we were treated to a marvelous rendition of “Memories”), the return of “The Book of Mormon”, “Anastasia”, “Fiddler on the Roof’ ( a classic that is worth seeing over and over), a very special “Come From Away” as well as the return of “Falsettos” a story that has great meaning in today’s world and of course, the musical that took the country by story, “Dear Evan Hansen” ( the whole city has been waiting for this one to arrive.

This was a free concert and is an annual event, so might I suggest you make www.BroadwayInChicago.com one of your favorites. In that way you can keep up with the upcoming events they do as well as the opportunity to purchase season ticket programs, that will save you money and guarantee you not missing a show you really want to see.

By the way, they are playing a game where you can win tickets- take a look! Full details can be found on their site www.BroadwayInChicago.com

Good Luck! “See you at the theater!”

Special thanks to my new friend, photographer Karen I Hirsch for her brilliant work!
