Davenport’s Piano Bar and Cabaret is one of “the places to go” in Chicago if you are looking for a solid drink along with some truly spirited performers. Due to my theater schedule ( and of late, we have a play every night and double headers on Saturdays, boy Ernie Banks would be proud) I cannot get to all the marvelous cabaret performances. Coming up are two ladies that I have seen perform as solo’s, now together in a new act called “The Mavenettes” as performed by Carla Gordon and Jan Slavin with the talented Beckie Menzie at the keyboards.
These women will be toasting some of the most talented Jewish females/songwriters ( Betty Comden, Dorothy Fields, Carole King and many other “nice Jewish girls” by bringing their songs to life. I am sure that the evening will be filled with surprizes , but of great import, is that you will have an enjoyable experience, taking your mind off the news of the day. Let’s face it, the world is a stressful place right now, and if we can get a few hours away from the radio or tv, have a drink ( or better yet two), hear some delightful music which will bring back many memories, why not go for it>
This performance will take place twice- April 21st and again, April 28th at Davenport’s Piano Bar and Cabaret, located in Bucktown on Milwaukee Avenue in Chiacgo at 7 p.m.
Tickets are a $15 cover charge and two drink minimum. If you have never been to Davenport’s, you have been out of touch with the Cabaret world- this is the place, an intimate evening of music and drink, so do not delay, call 773-278-1830 and make your reservation. You heard me! Today! and Enjoy!
