***** I just spent a wonderful afternoon at The Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire. In fact, one might say it was a “Beautiful” afternoon concert put on by the highly talented Kaitlyn Davis, who one the Jeff Award last year for her performance as Carol King in “Beautiful”. This is one of their special events, where on an “off day”, they do specialized concerts like “Elvis”, “Karen Carpenter”, “The Beatles/Paul McCartney” and many more. This one , of course, Carol King, and who better than this young lady.
While she did many of the “Beautiful” songs, which pleased the large audience ( this was at 1 p.m. on a Tuesday), she also shared with us many of her other musicals, and the roles she has played in them. Her vocal range is extraordinary and she is as charming as Kaitlyn as she was as Carol. I was fortunate to have had her on my radio show and spend some time with her. During our interview I found out a great deal about the lady and at today’s concert, we learned that as part of Marriott Theatre’s 50th anniversary, they are doing “Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” and Kaitlyn will be playing the role of the Narrator. Can’t wait to see that one.
By the way, the concert today was unique in that Kaitlyn had a guest for one number, Andrew Mueller ( brother of the Mueller sisters who have both played the role of Carol King) and they were fabulous together. This was a two day concert ( Monday night reports were powerful show to a nearly sold out house) and this afternoon. Let me just say that if you see the name Kaitlyn Davis is coming or in a production, pick up the phone and call your ticket contact that day. Do not wait! She is the best!
