Many of Chicago’s theater audiences are familiar with the name Peter Oyloe. He is the young actor/singer who has won several Jeff Awards for his fine work on some of our smaller stages. He is also a co-founder of one of Chicago’s newest venues, Filament Theatre Ensemble that has recently taken up residence in the “Six Corners” ( also known as Portage Park or Milwaukee/Irving/Cicero ) area. They have been busy rebuilding the old Three Sisters Women’s Store into a theater and some studio spaces. In fact, right now they have a brilliant adaptation of “The Snow Queen”, a perfect fit for families on these bbbreezy days of winter.
Now, Filament , in order to make even more of you aware of their performance space will add some concerts to their “bill” and the first of the series will be “Peter Oyloe In Concert”, a very special evening on Saturday, February 15th ( part of Valentine’s Day Weekend) at 7:30 p.m.. The theater is located at 4041 N. Milwaukee Avenue-
Peter, who is a guitarist, a singer and composer in addition to his marvelous acting skills has a sound that you will certainly enjoy and appreciate. A blend of traditional folk and contemporary American that is lyrical and reflective. Joining Peter will be Marc Walloch on guitar and Luke Heiden on percussion. The evening will be composed of some of his original works along with interpretations of folk music that will respect the original while at the same time reflect his personal touch. This is music that listeners will enjoy and be stirred by.
“Peter Oyloe in Concert” is part of Filament Theatre’s ongoing special programming in its new home in order to bring quality performing arts to the neighborhood for a reasonable cost. Tickets for this one night performance are a mere $10.00 ( yes, that is correct, ONLY $10.00) and portions of the proceeds will help in getting this theater finished even faster. You can purchase your ticket at the door, BUT, may I suggest that you go online and make your reservation at www.filamenttheatre.org. This will be a night to remember and once you have found Filament, you will find yourself a regular visitor.
