I was just made aware of a theater/venue on the Northshore that I was unaware of- The Oil Lamp Theater located in Glenview, where plays, concerts and Cabaret is presented on a regular basis. Coming very soon is a new musical that deals with two aging Ingenues who are planning their college re-union. The book and lyrics are by Joyce Stern Greenberg, who along with her actual college classmate , Judy Bement Samuelson play the ladies in the show. The show is directed by Debra Goldman,
These ladies went to school together back in the ( let’s just say, it is awhile) where they were in the School of Speech at Northwestern University. The story tells of them crossing paths after fifty years and how their friendship grew again by doing a musical at the Wilmette Theater. They now see that although they took different paths, what they shared in their pasts is enough to lead them to their future.
The story with musical direction by Ester Hana, the hour long musical takes a look at aging through comedy and song, with just a little touch of dance as the two ladies look back at their lives and such issues as weight, driving skills, family, friends, and of course old boyfriends. As Judy says” I am back performing, singing and dancing..for my “Third Act”- “what could be more life affirming”. There will be performances at the Oil Lamp Theater located at 1723 Glenview Road, in Glenview as follows:
June 18th at 1:30 p.m.
