With many of our schools closed for “Covid 19”, our youngsters are deprived of the after school activities that make school “social”. Glenbrook South high school ( sister school to Glenbrook North, where I was a grad , back in the day) in Glenview does great theater. Lauren Berman, who has been a guest on my radio show “Around The Town Chicago” on WCPT820, has directed many musicals for this talented high school, and now, as she has done with her 4Chairs” program, is using ZOOM to bring these young talents to the eyes of the public.
Not only is “Lost and Found” the fall production for GBS, it will be a fund raiser for Lady Gaga’s foundation, “Born This Way”. The foundation supports mental health issues among young people and provides resources in school.
I watched the performance last night, the first ever, filmed production at GBS , featuring 50 students both onstage and backstage as well as production staff- directors, stage crew etc.It is a combination of musical numbers from Broadway classics as well as monologues.
Some of the numbers will be very familiar- “I’m Not That Smart” from “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee “ (performed by Nathan Horowitz, “Hopelessly Devoted” from “Grease” (performed by Nicolette Sidelsky) and “Tonight at 8” from “She Loves Me” (Joshua Zingerman).
In addition, monologues from plays such as “Our Town”(Sonali Lulla), “Fences” (Rishi Lulla)and “The Dream of the Burning Boy” (Sara Khan) and “Crimes of the Heart”( Julia Bundy).
Musical numbers from a great variety of Broadway musicals and readings/monologues from some of our greatest plays- a perfect escape from NetFlix, SHO and Prime TV.
A Very talented group of teens bringing us 80 plus minutes of entertainment. Entertainment that will take us away from the craziness our world is in today. So check out https://gbs/glenbrook225.org and I think you will find a link- if not check out U-Tube.
