Starting February 12th and running through February 22nd, Chicago will once again be able to experience Chicago Theatre Week, where more than 100 productions are participating with special prices on tickets. This allows those who love live theater, but are limited on dollars to see plays that they might have missed. The line-up of shows is a variety and the prices are $15 or $30. That is indeed a bargain.
Chicago Theatre Week is presented by the League of Chicago Theatres in partnership with “Choose Chicago”. To see the complete list of productions available visit www.ChicagoTheatreWeek.com. Visitors as well as residents are afforded the opportunity of sampling the extraordinary range of theater we have in Chicago at substantial savings.
Something new has been added this year- Theatre Week Central, located at 163 East Pearson featuring the “Storefront Playwright Project, as well as hotel partnerships with Acme Hotel Company and The Dana Hotel and Spa. Specials on hotel rooms are also available. go to http://bit.ly/CTW15Hoteloffers.
At Theatre Week Central they will host something called Playwrights at Work, staged readings which will take place on Tuesday-Saturday at 10 am to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
These are exciting times for those who love theater- a time to truly explore and reach out to some of the quaint little storefront theaters in town and even up north in Glencoe where Writers Theatre has a small venue in back of a book store. The storefronts are everywhere and the quality is superb. When it comes to live theater, Broadway may have more neon and glitter, but it is Chicago that has the talent and love to give back to the best audiences the world has ever seen.
ENJOY!
