As a follow-up to my first visit to the Harmony Salt Cave in Buffalo Grove, today, Jane and I went for our own trial. Anyone who knows Jane, knows that she has a great deal of pain. From my first experience with the Salt Cave, and Anna’s success, I thought, maybe now is a good time for us to see what this is all about.
There are several choices to make at this spa. There are the caves ( custom designed rooms that are walled with salt and the floor is also covered. The air is treated and one hour in a cave can give you the feeling as if you have just spend a week-end at the ocean. The therapeutic benefits of what they call “salt halotherapy” improve overall wellness.
Gary ( our host ) showed us into the larger of the caves where we learned about the science behind the concept and the equipment that makes the air so pure and the atmosphere so relaxing. The other cave has chaise lounges that vibrate and massage, and there is a salt bed, where one’s entire body is on the salt and can dig in for even better results.
Both Jane and I came out of the cave quite relaxed and feeling zero pain. My fingers were a bit tight going in, but Gary handed us some warm salt balls that did work wonders and the fingers were quite flexible after. I also rolled them on my neck relieving the stress I had felt earlier.
This is something relatively new in our country but Europeans have been relaxing in these caves for many years. Now you can do the same without the air fare and hotel bills. Just an hour or so away from home ( and /or the office) and you will feel re-born.
The Harmony Salt Cave is located at 765 S. Buffalo Grove Road in Buffalo Grove ( just next to the Ace Hardware). The phone number is 224-676-1486
