“Take Me Out To The Ball Game!”

It has been a while since I attended a minor league baseball game, and last night, Frank, Cary, Jane and I met up at the Wintrust Field for a Schaumburg Boomers game. While minor league may not be your cup of tea, The almost full house watching the Boomers lost to the Gateway Grizzlies. Even so, it was a fun-filled evening.

The parking is FREE ( which got Frank really into sports) and while it was a giveaway night ( and a packed house), the lines were not bad and our seats were great sight lines and very very safe from the occasional foul ball. The fans were very family orientated and the kids were having a ball. Minor league baseball is very affordable and let’s face it most little kids just like the food and fun ( and maybe the foul ball souvenir).

If you have never been to a minor league game, you have no idea what you are missing. Between innings they have contests and fan participation quizzes and activities. They do not have vendors walking that aisles, but the concession stands are very close and the selection of food and drink truly amazing. They have a kids activity area so the little ones, if bored with baseball, can get their energy unleashed. note: Kids Zone has inflatables,  an obstacle course , bounce house, slide, speed pitch, T-Ball, and more!

When the game is over, on many nights they offer a fireworks show, and tonight’s was truly splendid.

Unlike typical baseball fields, the minor league parks are closer to those where Spring Training games are played, with areas that are picnic areas  (bring your own chair or blanket and sit on the grass) as well as a beer tent. They do have luxury boxes and i am pretty sure a party room for that special event in your life. Just to give you an idea of pricing, you can buy a lawn pass for $250 and it allows you and 4 other family members to attend ALL the games.
