“Take Flight Spirits” a destination worth the trip to Skokie

Today, Frank and I did our October taping of the tv show for Comcast, “Keeping You In Da Loop”, and rather than the studio or a local restaurant, we went to Skokie and it’s new offering, Take Plight Spirits. Part of the mystique of this new establishment is meeting the owners, Carrie and Andre Cole. This is a young suburban couple with twins at home and a dream in their minds. At one time Andrew wanted to become a micro brewer and design beer. Carrie is a spirit person and anyone who is married knows that a “happy wife is a happy life”, so you can guess how their dream went.

When the pandemic hit us and Andrew and Carrie were going to be home a lot with just the twins and a lot of time, they began working on their dream. They came up with the name, Take Flight ( which in a way explains that the start of the new venture was them taking flight into a new business). They started doing research and found a location. It took some time to get off the ground, but they are now in place at 8038 N. Lincoln Avenue in Skokie. Their location was a florist shop for decades and is a great location, close to everything.

They are going to do many spirits, but at present it is Gin and Rum that works best for them. As you know ( my listeners and reader’s) I drink Vodka, Old Fashions and Manhattans- They offer no vodka and as yet have not created a run Manhattan, but they surprised the heck out of me today with an Aged Rum Old fashioned using burnt barrel rum- wow! It was neat to watch the creation of the drink and the taste was sensational. Carrie assures me that they can d a Manhattan as well.

FYI- You can watch the show on U-Tube after September 25th, where you can see her make the drink and watch both Frank and I enjoy ( and savor every drop) it. They do have other spirits as well, guests and some brews. They even have Hamms Beer ( many older Cubs fans will recall “from the land of sky blue waters”). So far, no snacks to go with the drinks, but they are new having just opened their doors last month.

 They are open:
