***** It is Mid January 2025 and the weather world has taken a nose-dive. Temperatures have dipped to the lowest we have seen in many years, and this is the perfect time for SOUP!
As many of you know, I love the soup that Sarah Stegner prepares at Prairie Grass Cafe in Northbrook. Knowing that she i”farm to Table” gives me a very warm feeling and understanding how charitable she is makes me feel right at home. As a matter of fact, right now, Sarah is participating in a collaboration with more than 100 restaurants, as part of Chicago Chefs Cook, spearheading efforts to provide relief to restaurants in Los Angeles affected by the fires.
A portion of the proceeds from all of her soup sales will be donated to CCC4LA
This “chilly” day, I picked up two of her soups. One to eat today and since Wednesday doesn’t appear to be a heat wave, one for Wednesday.
Today- a wonderful bacon lentils soup. A dark rich brother ( that is where the bacon comes in) with a mixture of carrots and lentil’s that was rich and thick. I did toss a few oysterettes in mine as I love the extra flavor f the cracker in all my soups, and I prefer the calorie count over that of bread or a roll.
Wednesday- Mushroom-Barley: I grew up on beef barley as I am not a mushroom lover. However, over the years of enjoying Sarah’s recipes, I have come to find that mushrooms can be tasty.
They are open for indoor dining for lunch Monday-Friday 11am-2pm and for dinner Monday-Sunday starting at 5pm.
