Fresh Midwest is a new “premier” online fresh food and meal delivery service servicing the North Shore. They believe in meals made of locally grown produce and chef-driven meal solutions, thus, they have teamed up with area restaurants and chefs with the same mindset. The company is owned and operated by twin brothers Patrick and Mike Fitzgerald. www.freshmidwest.com.
One of my favorite North Shore dining spots, Prairie Grass Cafe is one of the spots selected to be a part of this dynamic concept.
Three of their items have been added to the Fresh Midwest menu:
1)Prairie Grass Prime Cafe Fillet dinner for two
2) Prairie Grass Cafe #1 Sirloin Burger
3) Salmon Burgers
also available are Prairie Grass Cafe’s hearty, homemade soups ( costing $6.99 each)
I selected the Fillet dinner, and rather than do the work myself, had the box sent to our kids, Mike and Julie. Mike loves to cook and since we are regulars at Prairie Grass, thought it might be good to get another opinion.
The box was delivered to their home Monday- on ice, everything was packaged to perfection. When they opened the containers, there was an instruction sheet that explained each of the items ( including the special butter sauce), the baked potatoes and the beautiful steaks.
They followed the directions and enjoyed a special dinner for two ( the kids were doing homework) and as Julie said, “the dinner was very easy to prepare, and tasted delicious”. The herbed butter made the choice steaks even better, and the twice baked potatoes were perfect ( something that is not always that easy). The over all experience was very special.
There are other restaurants in this program, so you might want to spend a little time with the website to see if any of your favorites are making their specialties available to prepare at your house.
