Some time back, Petterino’s , that wonderful restaurant next to the Goodman Theatre asked to add my picture to the wall of fame. A great honor. Over the years, we have dined there quite often as it is in the heart of The Theater District. At the time, they gave me the dimensions needed and asked me to have a caricature done. I did that and brought it to the restaurant. Turned out, they gave me the wrong size, and while they hung it on the wall of “booth number one”, it was overshadowed by the others, such as Paul Lisnek and Bob Sirott.
The management of Petterino’s apologized for the error and said they would have a new one added. They asked for a photo and from that photo they had a new caricature done. Last night, prior to attending the opening of Goodman Theatre’s “The Matchbox Magic Flute” ( see my review at Reviews), we dined at Booth Number One and sat below my new picture. I will go back and sign it on another date.
While I wasn’t sure if people would recognize me, our friend Paul ( featured on the same wall along with Steve Dale another WGN voice) stopped by before the play and said it looked great and he thought they captured my smile. Thank you Petterino’s for getting it right!
If you are dining at Petterino’s, check out Booth number one. This is a great before or after dinner spot when attending the Goodman or Broadway In Chicago playhouses, and if you didn’t know, Dennis Watkins “Magic Parlour” now resides downstairs. The address is 50 West Randolph for the show, but the restaurant address is 150 N. Dearborn, For reservations call 312-422-0150 or visit www.petterinos.com
