The story begins with Sarah Stegner of Prairie Grass. They do a special “dinner for Two” that Jane and I were going to enjoy for the second night ( Seder). I felt that since we have enjoyed every Catholic holiday with Frank and his family, perhaps, this meal would be even more special if Jane and I allowed him to take the meal. I did keep the flourless chocolate cake for us. YUMYUM!
The meal consisted of : Matzah Ball soup ( of course), Matzah, Apple Kugel, a mixed green salad ( with apples and pumpkin seeds), slow braised all natural BBQ brisket, cauliflower mash and roasted carrot. An extra was the chopped liver ( perfect on matzah).
While the dinner was created for two, Frank did the Italian thing of having more people drop by and take a taste of Judaism. I think they all enjoyed the meal. The service itself was not typical, so below you will find more information about the telling of the story. Jane and I thank Sarah for this magnificent meal and I am glad that we were able to share one of our traditional holy days with Frank and his family.
Prairie Grass is located in Northbrook at 601 Skokie Boulevard and the phone number is 847-205-4433
Mother’s Day is just around the corner- they will have some wonderful meals to make your celebration perfect.
