New Theater in Waukegan

Waukegan was chosen as the birthplace for this company due to its diverse population and its wonderful history. In addition, with the exception of the newly renovated Genesee Theatre, there is a need for more culture in the community. Waukegan, in its hay-days was a vibrant city with many great restaurants, buildings and now, as we face the rebuilding of our economy and the city of Waukegan, the board of directors of Clockwork, made up of many diverse people, felt the time was right.

Clockwise Theatre, located in the downtown Waukegan area is the latest theater to join the many local theaters in the Greater Chicagoland Area. This is a not-for-profit company committed to producing timely, smart and professional quality theater in the far northern suburbs. Clockwise will emphasize using the works of local artists and to initiate their program they will begin with  “Kita Y Fernanda, written by Tanya Saracho ( one of my favorite writers), a work that looks at class, immigration and women’s friendships.
(This has always been the main street in the downtown section) and the performance schedule for this brilliant piece of work is as follows:
Friday and Saturday nights at 8 p.m.

Sundays at 3 p.m.

The show will open on July 30th and continue until August 15th. While many think Waukegan to be far away, it is just a little bit further than Lincolnshire on the highway. You can take the Edens or the Toll road and exit 120 ( Belvidere Road) East. Tickets are only $15.
