Mickey & Minnie’s “Magic Journey”- Disney on Ice

This year, they have shortened the visit to Chicago with only one venue and for only one week, but the show itself is a gem. Mickey,Minnie, Donald,Daisy and of course Goofy take us on a magical journey to four destinations- featuring the exciting moments from "The Lion King","The Little Mermaid" and "lilo & Stitch for the first act and then after selling a ton of souvenirs and concessions, a marvelous rendition of "Peter Pan" with Peter, Wendy,Michael and John as well as Tinker Flying above the ice at The United Center.

[rating=3] Every year, we are treated to the magic of Disney on Ice- where favorite Disney characters come to life but with some wonderful ice skaters playing the famous roles. This year, they have shortened the visit to Chicago with only one venue and for only one week, but the show itself is a gem. Mickey,Minnie, Donald,Daisy and of course Goofy take us on a magical journey to four destinations- featuring the exciting moments from “The Lion King”,”The Little Mermaid” and “lilo & Stitch for the first act and then after selling a ton of souvenirs and concessions, a marvelous rendition of “Peter Pan” with Peter, Wendy,Michael and John as well as Tinker Flying above the ice at The United Center.

The skaters ( all award winners) are wonderful to watch and as always the costumes are exotic and colorful with some unique sets ( remember, we are in an ice rink where Hockey is played) and for the first time, it appears that they have looked at this production as a theatrical experience with an ice show rather than an ice show with characters the kids know and love. Choreographer, Cindy Stuart has added her special touches which are far more “Broadway” that “Ice Capades” and as she describes her work, she looks at the ice from above using it as her canvass where she can paint the picture that the audience will enjoy from the main floor or the upper balcony- art is what she has created. This show is a special treat for your kids and grandkids, but guess what, even us oldsters love to see the magic of Disney. It brings back great memories and makes us feel young again.
