Timing in life can be crucial! When the “pandemic” hit, I had just worked out an arrangement with a fairly new company, Meal Village” to be on my radio show as a sponsor and to have gift cards to give as prizes. How fortunate for Jane and I to be able to select off their menu, pick the items we desired and have them delivered to our home. Restaurants were for the most part closed or only available for carry-out and delivery, but many of us were afraid of even venturing out into what was an unknown called Covid-19!
There are many nights where we do not have the taste for the same thing. Often I enjoy a meat dish and jane would just want a salad. Other times I felt like a fish dish and Jane wanted a special salad. The soups they offer are dynamite ( just like home-made) and they do have a variety. They even have meals for “vegans”, so everyone can be happy. In addition, they do have some wonderful breakfast meals, kids meals, cocktail hour snacks, family dinner packages and I must say, the best meatloaf I have tasted since my Grandmother passed away.
While the pandemic is not fully over yet, restaurants are open again as are other businesses, I still like the idea of ordering before noon and having my meals delivered freshly made that evening. The food can be refrigerated and or frozen if desired, but the beauty of the program is fresh food made daily, easy to prepare and very enjoyable at a fair price. I have enjoyed several different breakfasts but my favorite is the Country Bacon Breakfast Bowl. As you can see, it comes with fruit ( very fresh) and the side sauce ( which I choose not to use). You just open the top, remove the fruit and topping, put in microwave for 2 minutes and then enjoy! I do this at least once a week. The French Toast is also great ( just the right touch of cinnamon). Here is how it comes. In a plastic dish ( which can be placed in the microwave), I removed the fruit and the sauce container, popped in the microwave and after 2 minutes, took out and plated with the fruit. A great way to start a day.
Meal Village has several snack ideas ( they also call them “kids meals”). When we are going out for a late dinner, I enjoy nibbling the cheese and crackers or the turkey and cheese along with cranberries. I also enjoy others that have pretzels and apple slices or mandarin orange segment. They are all tasty and of most importance, FRESH!
For dinner, both Jane and I agreed that meatloaf was the perfect way to end the day. Meatloaf ( like grandma made) with smashed potatoes/gravy and string beans. This is a great meal and so easy. 2 minutes and 30 seconds in the microwave or a bit longer in the over. One of the best things about this company is the instructions are clear and concise. They have a great selection and offer some special pricing along the way.
The only negative aspect of the program is that at this time, they do not deliver everywhere. To find out if they will be able to bring these meals to your home, the first step is to go to www.mealvillage.com, then put your zip code in the box and if the menu opens, you are in and ready to enjoy the meals. You do NOT have to join or subscribe- you order when you want food delivered. Fresh Meals, made daily and delivered to your door. If you have questions or might be interested in working for Meal Village call 888-610-2232. They are always seeking delivery people who are able to work weekdays from 3 p.m.- 6 p.m.
When you order, use the code ATTC50 and get 50% off your first order.
